"At 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, it boils.
And with boiling water, comes steam. And with steam, you can power a train."
212 is not only a message of action -- it's a message of persistent and additional action -- the continual application of heat (effort) to whatever task or activity you undertake in order to acheive not only the primary objective you seek, but to reap the exponential rewards that are possible by applying
one extra degree of effort.

Weekly Updates
Week of May 16
Varsity girls' soccer wrapped up their season this week with two playoff games against Little Village in Regional Semifinals and Glenbard South in the Regional Championship. On Wednesday, the Bulldogs faced the Phoenix of Chicago's Little Village. RB came ready to play from the get go, as evident in the determination and energy of junior center midfielder, Carmen Shelbrack. Shelbrack had two goals in the first half and dominated possession in the middle. The Bulldogs moved the ball extremely well and allowed very few offensive opportunities for the Phoenix. With another goal made by deflection off a Little Village player but attributed to junior Brittany Janney, the Bulldogs were up 3-0 at halftime. But they couldn't quit there. The momentum was inevitable and unstoppable and four more goals were scored before the final whistle blew. Juniors Bridget Brewer, Rachel Corcoran and Janney as well as senior Eva Perez all contributed goals to the final 7-0 score.
On Friday the 20th, RB came face-to-face with the Raiders of Glenbard South for the third time this season. With a "win-or-go-home" mentality, the Bulldogs laid it all on the field, battling for every ball and relentlessly marking each Glenbard player. Despite RB's hard work, the Raiders were able to score twice in the first half, making it 2-0 Glenbard going into the second. Junior goalkeeper Elena Duve played fearlessly, making over 15 saves to try and keep RB in the game. The Bulldogs refused to give up, even after the Raiders managed to put in one more goal, and for the first time this season, RB was able to get on the scoreboard against mighty Glenbard. After a Raiders player committed a foul inside their own 18-yard box, freshman Amy Zyck, who was pulled up to Varsity for playoffs, stepped up for the penalty kick. With the confidence of a senior athlete, Zyck placed the ball calmly in the back of the net, giving RB the point and making the final score 3-1. Although that season-ending game was heartbreaking for all, the girls left the field with confidence that 2012 will bring better results and more victories (particularly against Glenbard South).
Freshman Lia Sanchez led the Varsity team in points this season with three goals and three assists. Juniors Bridget Brewer and Carmen Shelbrack followed closely, each with three goals and Brewer with one assist. Goalkeeper Elena Duve played 18 of 19 games, had four shutouts and around 135 saves. A JOB WELL DONE TO ALL LEVELS OF RB GIRLS' SOCCER. Good luck to our seniors and see the rest of you this summer and in Spring 2012!!
